Things are finally moving

I've got some good ideas going and purchased several different materials today. Tomorrow morning I will go pick up more supplies (that I hadn't thought of earlier) and then construction begins!

Anxiety

This project is due in a couple of days and I'm feeling the pressure. My weekend ended up being everything but productive. I didn't find any materials, except for a bike. Well a friend is letting me borrow one of their many bikes and I plan to take my old rusted bike and include in my fort. Maybe some wheels for eyeballs? This weather isn't helping, except it does make the idea of a warm cozy fort that much more appealing. Good Will tonight!

So now all I need is a boat load of materials. I'm thinking fabric of every color and every composition. Large sticks, dowels, string, yarn, buttons, lights, pillows. I might challenge myself to only buy things that are under 3 dollars a piece. And that's generous.

Idears

So I think I have a promising idea. Sticking with the fort theme I will be working inside my apartment. But this fort with have similarities with a female head. The cloth enclosing the fort being her hair and cutting out some eyes in the back with lighting behind it. Well, that's where I'm going right now. The hard part is finding some sort of material to hold up the the cloth while still keeping the shape of the head. Like tent poles that bend or something. I may have to search some hardware stores, outdoor stores, thrift stores, my dad's shop...

I think it could be very interesting if done well and the way I see it in my head. But that rarely pans out. I need an architect or engineering consult...

Just a note

This would be much easier with a budget. A budget that I didn't contribute to.

Have I ever done installations? Not that I'm aware of, or have done on purpose. But I did build a fort in my room this weekend and that could be classified as an installation.

This fort turned out way better than mine. Fort building is way harder than it looks. 


If I could do any installations what would I do? Since I'm stuck on forts maybe I'll start with structures. Comforting structures.
